Kotelnica Białczańska

The village is surrounded by the mountains Wierch Koszarków, Jankulakowski, Wysoki, and the already nationally famous Wierch Kotelnica. Running through the Białka peaks is a road known as Wierchowa or the Royal Road. Its name originates from a highlander legend passed down through generations, which tells that King Jan Kazimierz once traveled this road while fleeing to Hungary from the Swedes.

Words cannot fully capture the natural beauty of the area. These wonderful forested lands, sunny clearings, cliffs, and mountain slopes must be seen with your own eyes. You should also dip your hand in the mountain waters of the Białka River, which flows from the High Tatras and runs for 41 kilometers before joining the Dunajec. This wild and unpredictable mountain river, revealing its bed of white pebbles, has more than once shown its mountainous nature by flooding nearby homes and roads.

On the eastern side of the village, the eye is drawn to a landslide overlooking the river, topped with a cross. This is the slope of Mount Litwinki, accessible via a scenic and gentle hiking trail, perfect for a Sunday outing with the whole family. In winter, the mountain transforms into a ski slope with fascinating runs and fairytale-like views.

Białka Tatrzańska still preserves a living highlander culture. The locals, historic houses, and enduring traditions represent the essence of Podhale. The village is home to the highlander folk group Białcanie and the band Mali Białcanie. Founded in 1984, the group represents the village at competitions, showcases, and festivals in nearby towns. In the village itself, residents still speak the traditional highlander dialect, and during holidays, they wear the traditional highlander costume.
